Thispaperstudymainlyonthereasonablehaulageroadwaypositionofsuccessivepanelbe⁃ tweentwoadjointpanels*Relyingonaminefortheprojectbackground,bythetheoreticalanalysis, threezonesintheverticaldirectionofthesolidcoalsideweregiven:Solidcoalstresszonealongone sideofthegoaf,transitionalzoneandelasticzonealongthefloor*Accordingtotheprincipleofroadway layout,theroadwayshouldbearrangedverticallyintheelasticzonealongthefloorandhorizontallyin thelow⁃stressregionofthelimitequilibriumzone*Thereasonablestaggeredhorizontaldistancebetween adjacentroadwaysforthisprojectbackgroundwasfoundtobe2mbytheoreticalanalysisandFLAC3D numericalsimulation*Intheengineeringapplication,combinedsupportwasappliedonthehaulageroad⁃ way,andthedeformationofthesurroundingrockintheroof,floorandsidesofthehaulageroadwaywas effectivelycontrolledaccordingtotheactualfieldtest*
